Ayurvedic Childcare Tips for the Rainy Season: Boost Immunity and Digestion Naturally

🌧️ Ayurvedic Childcare Tips for the Rainy Season 🌧️

With the arrival of the rainy season, many parents wonder how to keep their children healthy and protected from infections. According to Ayurveda, this is a season when digestive fire (Agni) weakens, humidity increases, and the balance of Doshas can easily get disturbed—especially in children whose physical strength is still developing.

Here’s an Ayurvedic daily regimen that supports your child’s digestion, immunity, and overall health during this season:

🥗 Dietary Recommendations

  • Include easily digestible grains like:

    • Shali (red rice variety)

    • Godhuma (a type of wheat)

    • Yava (barley) – all well-cooked

  • Yusha – a light soup made from green gram or other pulses, seasoned with mild spices like salt and a touch of lemon.

  • Jangala Mamsa Rasa – soups made from goat meat or country chicken, enriched with:

    • Sneha (ghee)

    • Shunthi (dry ginger)

    • Jeera (cumin)

    • Hing (asafoetida) and salt

  • Takra (buttermilk/whey from curd) – seasoned with salt and Pancha Kola powders (available in Ayurvedic stores).

  • Drink only boiled and cooled water.

🚫 Avoid

  • Overly spicy or oily foods, fruit juices

  • Daytime sleep

  • Getting soaked in the rain

  • Excessive physical activity or excessive sun exposure

🛁 Daily Regimen

  • Cleanliness is key – use gentle herbal powders for rubbing the body, followed by a warm water bath to prevent skin issues and infections.

🌿 Treatment Options (Under Supervision)

  • Abhyanga – Gentle oil massage with child-friendly medicated oils

  • Swedana – Mild sudation (sweating therapy) suited for children

  • Basti – A special Ayurvedic therapeutic enema to balance doshas and support digestion

These Ayurvedic practices help enhance immunity, maintain Agni (digestive power), and protect your child’s overall health during the monsoon.
